Dance

Creative Movement   

Ages 3-5   10 Classes  Wednesdays, 6:00 - 6:30 pm

Begins April 2, 2008

This is a structured, fun children's program that uses movement and dance to develop rhythm, coordination, and expression. A short choreographed routine will be taught.  Ballet slippers required; leotard and tights (any color) are recommended.

Location:  Sandymount Elementary School cafeteria or gymnasium

Fee:  $35

An informal finale is usually held during the last class for parents and family to attend.


Beginner Ballet   

Ages 5+   10 Classes  Wednesdays, 6:30 - 7:00 pm

Begins April 2, 2008

This is a more formal class for dancers having completed a Creative Movement program or a similar experience class, and for the experienced dancer.  Ballet slippers are required; leotard and tights (any color) are recommended.  Dancers should wear their hair up or tied back.

Jazz and Modern   

Ages 7+   10 Classes  Wednesdays, 7:00 - 7:45 pm

Begins April 2, 2008

A fun class for both the beginner and experienced dancer.  It offers a combination of jazz and modern dance moves, with some basic ballet techniques included and is a fast-paced, fast-moving class.  Previous dance experience is recommended.  Ballet slippers or jazz shoes are required.

Clogging Dance Classes   

Ages 8-Adult   10 Classes  Mondays^, Sandymount Elementary Cafeteria

Session runs April 14 - June 9

Beg. I    6:00 - 6:30 pm   OR   Beg. II    6:30 - 7:00 pm   Fee:  $30

Level II   7:00 - 8:00 pm   Fee:  $40

^Some Fridays necessary

Beginner I & II students learn the basic fundamentals of contemporary Clog dancing.    Dancers work on form, movement, balance, and basic sounds and steps, and then move on to combine steps into dance routines designed especially to incorporate the basic steps.

Level II dancers continue to learn basic and intermediate steps/routines and synchronized team dancing.  No previous dance experience is needed to enjoy this traditional American folk dance!  White canvas, thin-soled tennis shoes are needed.  Clogging taps and practice material are required at a one time cost of $16.
